Ah, blueberries…

Posted by: Michał In: feeeed me!|so very Polish

So, it’s getting colder again. The summer is almost over. Yet my supermarket is still selling some lovely blueberries. Over the past couple of months I’ve been religiously buying them fresh. I just thought my daily cereal routine – dominated by bananas, apples and sometimes raisins – needed an injection of fresh, seasonal fruit. And [...]

Traces of Poland in New York

Posted by: Michał In: bits and bobs|so very Polish|travel

I had a bit of a break and enjoyed a week in New York. But even while there you can’t escape all things Polish. Every five minutes I saw ads for Sobieski, the Polish vodka, which seems to be getting a big marketing push in New York (and I’m guessing elsewhere in America too): The [...]

Today’s anniversary (read more about it here and leave your comments too!) prompted one of the largest Polish portals, Gazeta.pl to launch a couple of unique services. The first one is called ‘A postcard from Poland’ and is a massive collection of photographs depicting what Poles were doing today at midday, twenty day after the [...]

Polish sausages

Posted by: Michał In: feeeed me!|so very Polish

My good friend from uni, Kasia, came to London last week for a short trip with her students. “What do you want from Poland?” she asked me over the phone. Hmm, the list can run into pages – new music, good books, a bottle of good vodka, sausages. “Sausages,” I said without hesitation. “Actually just [...]

Do not adjust your TV sets!

Posted by: Michał In: so very Polish|travel

Some discoveries surprise me more than others. I have only just learned that Poland might be a byword for extreme sports. Well, some extreme sports. A Polish website reports on a regular contest, which allegedly has already been taking place in a remote part of north-east Poland for 19 editions (how did that bypass me?) [...]

Polska! Year

Posted by: Michał In: cultural beast|so very Polish

Good news if you live in the UK and want to experience more Polish culture locally. For the next year cities all over Britain will participate in an initiative called Polska! Year. According to the organisers’ website, The purpose of the Year is to bring communities of Poland and Great Britain closer by strengthening cultural [...]
