Prawo Jazdy is actually not a human

Posted by: Michał In: p for press

Have you heard about a Mr Prawo Jazdy? He made the headlines in the UK, Poland and Ireland this week and managed to embarrass the Irish  police. Because while they were searching for this elusive driver with multiple addresses, the Poles reading the story, including me, couldn’t really believe it. According to the BBC: He [...]

How to recognise the recession?

Posted by: Michał In: p for press

By how many Polish people go back home. That’s if you believe the Guardian. Last weekend the paper published a couple of articles in which it outlined the most obvious signs of a recession. And they are a lower electricity consumption and reverse migration of Poles (is there such a thing, or have I just [...]

Come back home

Posted by: Michał In: p for press

The current economic situation in the UK has already forced many Poles to go back home. For many casual workers earning their living in the UK no longer makes (economic) sense. They came here to seek a better live, mostly because Poland’s unemployment rate in recent years went through the roof. But without a strong [...]

I was away and quite busy over the past few days, and only just noticed tonight while on the Tube home a storm brewing on the [...]

Do you have a PLan?

Posted by: Michał In: p for press

Polish PM Donald Tusk was in London yesterday. He was supposed to try and convince Poles living here to come back to Poland, by asking “Do you have a return PLan?’ (PL stands for Poland, of course). All that because the Polish government has launched a special site, where Poles living in the UK can [...]

Racism or bad taste? Or a technical error?

Posted by: Michał In: p for press

“Did you know Barack Obama has Polish blood? Yes, his grandpa ate a Polish missionary” This is a ‘joke’ I heard in Poland last week. It was attributed to Poland’s Foreign Minister (!), Radek Sikorski. The politician later had to explain that he did not actually tell the joke, he only used it as an [...]
