Chopin in Time Out (London)

Posted by: Michał In: cultural beast

Remember my Chopin post from a few weeks ago? Looks like London is getting ready for some Chopin celebrations too this year – just saw this in this week’s Time Out.

So glad there are more and more Polish events in London every year.

However, if you don’t want to splash out on Time Out, try the Polish Cultural Institute. They’ve created a guide to all the Chopin-related events taking place in the UK this year – you can download a free copy here.

5.9.10:Do get along to see the Polish brig, Frederic Chopin; it is berthed at St Katharine’s Pier, next to Tower Bridge and the Tower. Each night at 9.15 pm they have dancing and acrobatics in the rigging- most charming and splendid.- saw it last night and will be there again this evening. They are organising concerts and events all week, climaxing with an attempt to dance the polonaise into a world record. Website is http://www.chopinthecourse.com/en-gb. Take a minute to waltz there, it’s all free!
Incidentally, Charles Dickens met our Frederic when he visited London in 1948- sadly, Chopin was, by then, very ill, and died not long after.
