Does anyone know of the brand of 'flax' oil that is used at Christmas in Poland? I have a Polish friend who has been trying to find it in Edinburgh, especially for Christmas. Any suggestions would be great!

Some things, like Zywiec beer, have become more popular. I've seen Tyskie too. Kabanos is now a permanent fixture at Sainsbirys and Tesco - along with other Italian and Spanish sausages. So slowly Polish products are becoming popular in the UK.

Thanks, will do. I wasn't sure whether or not these things had gone mainstream yet. For example, Belgian Leffe used to be a lot harder to find but is now fairly common in London. RE Zurek, it's a shame we don't have the Milk Bars here too.
As for English, I find the Poles I meet often speak it better than I do!

Thanks for your kind words.

There's a shop in Soho, in Old Compton St which sells all sorts of alcohols, I used to go there to buy some obscure Polish wodkas (yes, with a 'w') as gifts, I'm sure they'll have Krupnik. Otherwise try some Polish shops - Polish Specialities have branches all over London, for example. They may even speak English ;)

Zurek you say? Try POSK in Hammersmith or Daquise in Kensington - two totally different places, but both serving decent Polish food.

Hi. I do enjoy your blog. I've only been to Poland a few times, but I've really enjoyed it and met some great people.

Speaking of food, I was wondering if you might know where I can get some warming Krupnik over here in London - especially given the recent chill?

I had it for the first time last year in Krakow, and it was delicious. Also, can I find a restaurant in London that serves Zurek?

Many thanks,
Simon

They don't? I'm surprised. On the other hand, Tesco is very popular in Poland, has a few branches there, so maybe it's only natural...
