I've been to both and I think Wroclaw appeals to me just that bit more. Maybe it's because I know a bunch of really nice people there? Still, you can't beat Trojmiasto. If I ever was to go back to Poland, I'd definitely want to live there.

Thanks for reposting :)

Yes the main shopping street in Lodz is very attractive - lots of lovely old buildings, but step off it 10 or 15 yards and it's a different story.

It's really sad to city centres decaying like this - of course it's happening all over these days, British cities are no exception. You only have to look at those places that haven't benefited from millions in inward investment in the way that Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham and so on have... Stoke and Norwich immediately spring to mind as being places that have seen much better days :(

i've been to both - wroclaw is great but awfully germanic. that was a little uncomfortable.
Lodz is another story. It's prime attraction - I can't remember the name, it's the long street that runs down the middle of town - is beautiful. But with these mega malls opening, there's no reason for anyone to go to the actual nice part... and so the mall-ification of poland continues, sadly, and the little heritage left crumbles away. other than that, i liked it.
